March 19, 2021

Language services are indispensable for the high-quality opening up, international cultural communication, and the “Belt and Road” construction of China. However, the research on the competitiveness of language services in China’s three most developed economic zones, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region (BTH), the Yangtze River Delta (YRD), and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), is still blank. This research compares the current status of language service capabilities of open economic zones in China, and is of great value for future planning, talent training, social services, and policy consultation. It has realistic significance in promoting the construction of "Double First-Class" in the new era, cultivating high-quality talents in the language service industry in the new age and advancing the building of the "One Belt One Road" and the three major economic zones.

The core goal of the "Report on the Competitiveness of Language Services in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region (BTH), the Yangtze River Delta (YRD), and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA)" project is to complete the investigation of the language service capabilities of the three most developed economic zones in BTH, YRD and GBA. Based on the current situations of language servicesat home and abroad, this project looks into the industry development environment, industrial competitiveness, infrastructure, service technology, foreign-related legal services, international communication, corporate competitiveness, and future development trends and suggestions for language services in the three zones.

So far, there hasn’t been any domestic big data report on the analysis of the language service competitiveness of the three major economic zones. This study compares the status quo of language service capabilities in open economic zones in China, and hasgreat value and significance for future planning, talent training, social services, and policy consultation.
