Prof. LIU Li was born in October 1961, in Xuzhou of Jiangsu Province. He graduated with Doctoral Degree in Literature and become a doctoral supervisor in this field later. He is at present President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC committee of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), and Director of Beijing Advanced Innovation for Language Resources (ACLR).
He used to hold the position in Beijing Normal University (BNU) successively as Deputy Secretary of CPC General Branch of BNU Chinese Language Faculty, News Center Director and Deputy Director of BNU CPC Publicity Department, Deputy Director of BNU Beijing Culture Development Research Institute, Chief Librarian and Secretary of CPC General Branch of BNU Library, Director of BNU CPC Organization Department, and Deputy Secretary of the CPC committee of BNU.
He mainly engages in teaching and studying Ancient Chinese, Chinese grammar, the history of Chinese grammar, and the history of Chinese lexis. He hosted projects such as “Study on the Development of Chinese Complex Sentences and Database Establishment”, a major project of National Social Sciences Fund, “Study on the Ancient Chinese Complex Sentences”, a key project of National Social Sciences Fund, “Study on the Development of Auxiliary Words” a project of the Social Sciences Fund of the Ministry of Education, “The Study of Verbs in The Ancient Books of Spring and Autumn Times”, a human social science project of the Ministry of Education, “The Study on the Verbs and Verbal Grammatical Structures in Qin Dynasty”, a project of the Postdoctoral science foundation of China and “The Language Teaching Program” for the Beijing Language Work Committee, etc. He was invited to carry out international joint studies in Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, etc. He was awarded the Beijing Science and technology innovation model, and by BNU the Liyun Outstanding Young Teacher Award.

Prof. Li Yuming, who enjoys China State Council special allowance, is the Director and Chief Expert of Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Language Resources (ACLR) of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), President of the Lexicographical Society of China (LSOC), President of the Institute of Language Policy and Planning of Chinese Language Society (CLS), Vice President of Chinese Information Processing Society of China (CIPS), President of International Association of Chinese Linguistics (IACL) (2016-2017), and Chief Editor of Chinese Journal of Language Policy and Planning.
Prof. Li has worked for different units and departments in the Ministry of Education of China: Deputy Director of the National Language Committee, Director of the Department of Language Information Management, Director of the Institute of Applied Linguistics, Chairman of the Council of BLCU,and Vice President of Central China Normal University. Prof. Li has been awarded National Labor Medal in 1997, 2013 Distinguished Chinese Visiting Scholar by Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Figure of the Year 2017 in Chinese Cultural Exchange. Chair Professor in Capital Normal University, Adjunct Professor in Northeast Normal University, Distinguished Professor in Zhejiang Normal University, etc.
Prof. Li’s research interests encompass theoretical linguistics, syntactic, psycholinguistics, and language planning. He has published more than 20 books including Children’s Language Development, Research on the Quantity Category in Chinese Language, Collections on Grammatical Studies (Yu Fa Yan Jiu Lu), Language Planning in China, Contemporary Chinese Language Study (as Chief Editor), Language Learning and Education, and Collection of Li Yuming Language Spread and Planning; over 500 academic papers, which have been translated into Mongolian, Tibetan, Uygur, Japanese, French, English, Russian, Korean and other languages. He edited the Dictionary of Global Chinese Language (Quan Qiu Hua Yu Ci Dian), the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Global Chinese Language (Quan Qiu Hua Yu Da Ci Dian) (nominated as Book of the 4th China Publication Government Award), and chaired the formulation of General Standard Chinese Characters.The Language Situation in China (volume 1-3) he co-edited was published by De Gruyter and the Commercial Press and was translated into Japanese and Korean.
