On September 1, Marcus Taft, an internationally renowned expert and professor from the University of New South Wales has officially reached a long-term cooperative relationship with Center for the Cognitive Science of Language, Beijing Language and Culture University. Since then, Professor Taft will join the international research team of CCSL in the name of a distinguished professor and conduct academic activities with other researchers of CCSL.
Professor Marcus Taft
Professor Marcus Taft's main research field is the processing of morphology, phonology and glyphs in reading, spelling, and speech comprehension. As early as the late 1970s, Professor Marcus Taft proposed the BOSS (the basic orthographic syllabic structure) theory of glyph processing, and conducted many studies in English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and other languages to verify the theory. He has published more than 100 books including "Reading" and "The Mental Lexiocon". In addition to his research on English, Professor Taft has published many papers on vocabulary processing in Chinese, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish and French. In recent years, Professor Marcus has been actively involved in bilingual processing research.
The joining of Professor Marcus Taft has brought new vitality to the center, which will effectively promote the development of the center's interdisciplinary research and contribute to the construction of a world-class academic innovation center.
