On September 15, 2021, the opening ceremony of the Class of 2021 of the School of Psychology was held in the Rixin Lecture Hall of the library. Ma Guisheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Beijing Language and Culture University, Peng Hengli, Secretary of the Party General Branch of Faculty of Linguistic Sciences, Hao Meiling, Professor of the Department of Chinese International Education, Jiang Xin, Executive Vice President of the School of Psychology, Wang Xu, Secretary of the Party Branch of the School of Psychology, and all teachers and students of the School of Psychology attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Wang Xu.

At the beginning of the ceremony, President Jiang Xin firstly, on behalf of all the faculty and students, congratulated and welcomed the 34 freshmen of the Class of 2021 who were admitted to the School of Psychology with excellent results, and introduced the history of the School of Psychology and the formation of the faculty in detail. She pointed out that although the history of the School is short, the discipline of psychology has a long history in our university. In recent years, after the university was granted a master's degree authorization point in the first-level discipline of psychology in 2018 and the establishment of the School of Psychology in 2020, the discipline of psychology in our university has developed rapidly and has made gratifying achievements. And then our university has been granted a master's degree authorization point in the second-level discipline of psycholinguistics and a master's degree authorization point in applied psychology. Today, we welcomed the first class of psychology undergraduates, marking a new step in the development of the School of Psychology and opening a new chapter in the history of the School. Finally, she quoted President Liu Li's speech and hoped that the students of the School of Psychology would actively integrate into the university and the School, and work with them to take excellence as the goal ofceaselessdevelopment and achieve their life values.

Zeng Yanjia, an undergraduate student of Class 2021, as a representative of the new students, shared her feelings since enrollment and her outlook on the new journey. She believed that improving one's overall ability is the basic requirement for college students to cope with various challenges, and enhancing and exercising all aspects of ability is also in line with the talent training goal of the School of Psychology. Zeng Yanjia also issued a call to spread the voice and story of China. She hoped that in her future study, she can stand at a higher level to build a bridge for the dissemination and promotion of Chinese culture, and will also explore a new life and write a new chapter of life with a positive attitude and enthusiastic spirit side by side with her classmates.

As a representative of current master students, An Yu, Class of 2020, shared her journey with psychology, her understanding of professional learning and introduced the characteristics of psychology in our university in detail. On the way of exploring psychology, she learned that there are different sceneries in life everywhere. Her involvement in cross-discipline made her learn to “see the world", which also allowed her to "see all beings" from the perspective of others, and in the process of exploration, she learned to "know herself". She encouraged the freshmen to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude, cultivate a growth mindset, constantly broaden their horizons to enrich their spiritual world, and break through themselves through continuous attempts to let their youthful dreams fly.

Zhang Xiuping, a young teacher of the School of Psychology, spoke as a representative of full-time teachers. She pointed out the infinite charm of psychology, and mentioned that in the undergraduate stage, students should learn professional knowledge, explore life goals, feel the charm of the discipline and start a happy life; in the graduate stage, students should build academic achievements, develop experimental skills, improve scientific research abilities and explore their own potential. She took the "Four Haves Teacher" as the standard for being a teacher, and was determined to make her own contribution to cultivating the builders and successors of the socialist cause. She also encouraged students to work hard, develop their skills and have their own core competitiveness in the future workplace.

Mr. Peng Hengli, Secretary of the Party General Branch of the Faculty of Linguistic Sciences, spoke as a representative of the part-time teachers of the School of Psychology. He opened his speech in a funny way, mentioning the complexity and mystery of psychology and pointing out the universality and development of the discipline. He pointed out that psychology, as an old but emerging discipline, is full of opportunities and challenges, and it is worthwhile for the teachers and students here to devote into the psychological phenomena and theories emerging in an endless stream. Even though the development of psychology in our university endures great hardships in pioneer work, with the establishment of the School of Psychology and the growth of the number of faculty and students, it will definitely make great achievements. In the end, Professor Peng wished the new students of the School of Psychology to achieve more brilliant achievements and to meet a better future.

Finally, Comrade Ma Guisheng, delivered an enthusiastic concluding speech. He pointed out that 2021 is a milestone year for the School of Psychology, in which the School created several "firsts": the first time to move into the new official office of the School, the first time to welcome the first undergraduate and PhD students. This is a new milestone in life for the students, a new starting point for the School, and an important part of the disciplinary layout for the University. He also put forward three wishes for the students, teachers and the development of the school: First, he hoped that the students would not forget their initial aspirations and live up to their youthfulness, and try to make this schooling experience the best memory of their lives. Secondly, he hoped that teachers will cultivate their moral character, concentrate on their studies, respond to the call of General Secretary Xi Jinping, learn to carry forward the noble spirit of Comrade Huang Danian and other outstanding teachers, and be a good guide for students' growth. Thirdly, he hoped the school will strengthen the top-level design in the development process, plan from a high starting point, require high standards and develop with high quality, and strive to cultivate high-level talents.

The opening ceremony of the class of 2021 came to a successful end in the warm applause of all teachers and students, while the prologue of the new stage for 20 new undergraduates and 14 new master's students has just begun. On the occasion of the centennial of the founding of the Party and the historical intersection of the "two hundred years" goal, the School of Psychology held its first opening ceremony, ushering in its own new year and opportunity. We hope that the new students of the Class of 2021 will have high aspirations, be down-to-earth, and write the song of youth in this new era with strive and determination!
