On the morning of July 9th, Deputy Secretary Hui Wei and other university authorities went to the Department of Linguistics to investigate the Party building and department building work. Standing Committee Member of University Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department, Jing Lü, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee and the Head of the teachers’ Work Department, Mingfeng Zhan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Retirement Work, Kejuan Cui, ViceChairman of the University’s Labor Union, Guanqun Zhao, Secretary of the Department of Linguistics Party branch directly under CPC and the head of the Department, Fuzhen Si, Deputy Head of the Department, Zhongru Xiong and some teacher representatives attended the meeting.

After listening to Prof. Fuzhen Si’s report on the comprehensive work of the Department of Linguistics, Deputy Secretary Hui Wei delivered a speech. He gave full recognition to the work of the Department in its career development and Party building and also raised hopes for the department’s near-term and long-term development. Secretary Wei pointed out that the Department of Linguistics has a high starting point, concise personnel, standardized management and has accomplished remarkable achievements. At the same time, Secretary Wei stressed that in the future construction and development, the department of Linguistics should give full play to its existing characteristics and advantages, building up to high standards in the areas of internationalization, major construction and talents training. Moreover, ideological and political education is hoped to be run through the construction of all courses.

Work Report of the Department of Linguistics

Jing Lü,Standing Committee Member of University Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department, Mingfeng Zhan, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee and the Head of the teachers’Work Department, Kejuan Cui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Retirement Work, and Guanqun Zhao, Vice Chairman of the University’s Labor Union respectively praised the achievements made by the Department of Linguistics in the standardization of management, internationalization, discipline construction and talents training in the past two years since its establishment. Meanwhile, they also gave suggestions and guidance on the united front work, propaganda work, the work of caring for veteran cadres and the next generation, labor union work and so on.

The leaders of the Department of Linguistics and the representatives of the teachers responded that they would earnestly implement the work requirements put forward by Secretary Wei and the leaders of all functional departments, and further strengthen ideological and political construction, internationalization construction, and discipline construction, integrating the construction of the department into the development of BLCU world-class language university with Chinese characteristics.
